Government The Espyn Council is comprised of those held in high esteem across the land, which is determined by a general consensus. Once people are chosen as potential council members, they are to begin with the lowest government work and show their worth until they are given a seat on the council. As a relic from the past, male council members are expected to live in well-appointed government buildings in Espyn City, usually sacrificing their previous jobs to do so. Female council members, however, are free to live in the homes they had prior to earning a seat on the council, and keep their jobs as well, provided this doesn't interfere with their availability to attend meetings, make decisions and so on. This is a tradition that many believe to be outdated, but one which is directly contested only rarely. Exceptions will be made for members who articulate their argument respectfully and are considered valuable additions to the council, but this is the default arrangement. Council members serve as governors of their various districts, and meet often on matters concerning the county as a whole. Decisions are made between them, with the advice of the public via twice-monthly meetings, making this a form of democracy.
