Large, cherry-stained
armchair. Scroll-style armrests, fitted with a red velvet seat cushion.
A scene depicting fluttering cherubim - nude and childlike - with
arrows at the ready amongst the clouds is clearly, carefully carved on
the inside of the curved back. Medium-stained
coffee table, floral patterns carved and stained a darker color into
its top and down its legs, which sit on small, squared ends. Black
coffee table, its middle set with thick glass, and a sturdy shelf
beneath. This one's legs are thick and carved outside just below where
the cease needing their extra support with a simple, elegant design,
presumably to save it from seeming plain. Unlike the
previously-mentioned table, its legs remain thick all the way through. Large,
dark cherry-stained wardrobe, sits on two thick, curved legs and curves
at the top. There is room only for hanging clothes, but it's rather
deep and comes with a number of matching hangers he's made. Into the
right door is carved an angelic figure with its back turned; into the
left, a demonic figure. Rounded 'beads' fatten the middle of each leg.
The inside, unlike the outside, is not finished--but unopened, the
piece gleams in the sunlight. Handles textured with vertical rises and
indentations easily open and close the doors. Large,
black cabinet with glass for open display of its contents and four
strong shelves, the space between the first and bottom of the inside
serving as a large fifth. Small knobs of steel open it, and a
similarly-made lock is set between each door. A drawer rolls out from
its belly, containing in an obscure corner the lock's key. Four legs
hold this piece up, and two angels are carved on the left and right
front sides. Their genders are hard to tell, as only eyes and the
beginning of strong noses are visible beyond the intricately-feathered
wings folded in front of them. Furthermore, only the smallest parts of
their forearms and hands can be seen as they stab broadswords to frame
the glass showcase. A
small, black, four-legged piano bench with a red velvet cushion. Very
simple, but made of heavy, sturdy wood. Again, its legs are textured,
this time with rounded tops and vase-like bulges about their middles. A
large, full-sized, four-poster bed of medium-colored, finished wood.
Each post has impeccably-carved spirals running up it, into figures
like torch fixtures where they meet either end. While the foot of the
bed has plain, square designs, the head--right above where one would
rest his head--has a pair of spread angel's wings, as though the
heavens watched over the sleeper. Forest green, velvet curtains are
hung from it, trimmed in red and gold and patterned with arabesques,
and for now tied back with thicker, darker green lengths of velvet. The
mattress set within is soft and welcoming, neatly made with dressings
in much the same spirit. While the furniture itself was made by him,
one could surmise that the rest was not.
